Hey guys, in this video we will show you how to install led headlight bulbs on Mercedes W211. We demonstrated on a 2003 Mercedes e320 led headlight bulb pattern. We will not recommend installing them since they do not perform very good in this vehicle and you will need to do some modifications to make them work. The Problem

A plastic shaft within the scroller knob unit snaps causing the scroll function to no longer work on the screen.

It is a common fault on these vehicles for the comand controller knob to stop functioning correctly. A poor-quality plastic shaft within the controller knob unit snaps. This causes the common symptom of the scroller rotating as normal but for there to be no reaction on the screen. If all other functions are working except the scroll this indicates this shaft has deteriorated and snapped, this is an extremely common fault. Mercedes Benz fix is to replace the complete knob and button unit, this is extremely expensive and would only fail again.

Symptoms of the fault

Knob rotating but no response on the monitor. Knob works up-down-left-right but no rotation. When the wheel is turned, no reaction on the screen will be shown. All other functions such as confirming and tilting the controller are given.

Restore full function with our replacement metal shaft.

Our part allows you to replace just the shaft within the knob unit which fails, without having to replace the complete unit at vast expense which would just fail again. Our shaft is CNC machined from billet aluminium then anodised. Beware of 3d printed, plastic and cast metal parts which could fail again. Our part will last the life of the vehicle. Using our part replace just the component that fails with an improved design part and restore full function permanently.

  3. After doing some research and putting in LEDs in my own W211 (prefacelift), I've heard that these models have the glazed projecter lens rather than the updated facelift, which limits the amount of light that is emitted.

    Could you perhaps make a video of replacing this projector, as well as maybe replacing the headlight lens and facelift conversion?

  4. Firstly, when I upgraded to LED's I noticed the insulation of the wiring internal to the headlight assy was crumbling. I replaced it with the available harness, but it is not that simple. Bummer. Secondly, most heat sinks on the LED bulbs will not fit under the circular cover. You end up cutting and modifying etc. And even though I used the brightest lumiled H7 LED's I could find…the result was not that great, in fact it sucked. I tried everything, even modify the position of the LED elements, turn the LED 90 degrees etc etc, the original H7 halogen work better. What a waste! Except for the replacement of the wiring, of course.

  5. Hi, maybe you guys can find out why the w211 headlight washers aren't working. Pumps are good.

  6. The projector headlight in 211 is NOT suited for any LED bulbs.
    If you want increased intensity, with good spread and good penetration on any 211, the ONLY way is to use HID/Xenon…..and the OSRAM 4300K HID/Xenon is superb on my W211.

  7. This video was partially useful but I agree with the previous comments and I couldn't get it apart by just removing 4 screws so took out all ten and followed another video. This just means you come at the circuit board from the opposite side. I think If I had continued to try and separate the controller as shown in the video I would have broken it. (I did notice the video was carefully edited at the point the controller is split apart). However there are some useful tips.

  8. who else but mercedes thinks about overcomplicating things and then using a cheap plastic that will snap sooner than later, build it better the next time please.. best or nothing my ass, i love mercedes but its the small things like this that make me hate the designers they have..

  9. Like already stated in the first comment, it is impossible to disengage in proper conditions the two half-bodies of the unit only removing the outer four screws as shown in the video. The bodies have still 4 connections between them – one body is fixed toward the circuit board by the 4 quick disconnects of the supports for the optical sensors (the parts having the balancing feet), while the circuit board is fixed with the other 4 screws toward the second body. Forcing a long time as advised in the video (…) will make finally the quick disconnects to fail and the half bodies to disengage, but this is a really silly, extremely unprofessional solution.
    Way to go (while saving a good half an hour and avoiding serious damage in housings and quick disconnects) : remove all screws: the bodies will instantly disengage. Raise slowly the quick disconnect blades in the optical sensors, they will slide up and the circuit board is free.

  10. Hello, thank you for the video. Can you also show how this is done for a facelift model (w204 facelift) since the silver knob is slightly different as shown in the video and it's not to be removed in the same way.

  11. I cant open the unit like vídeo shows. Only can with 8 screws, if not, impossible.
