Cost guide · CAD · Edmonton
What these repairs should cost, before anyone quotes you.
Every number here is an indicative range for an independent specialist in the Alberta area — parts and labour. It is not a quotation, and nobody should be quoting you a firm price without seeing the car or its fault codes.

A range is only useful once someone has looked at your car. Send us the details and we'll come back with what we actually think it is.
Full list
Every job we quote, with the range we'd give you
Maintenance
- A service$280–$460Oil and filter to the correct Mercedes spec, fluid level checks, tyre pressure, and the service counter reset.
- B service$420–$620Everything in A plus the items your schedule calls for at that interval — filters, brake fluid on due years, and a written condition report.
- Brake fluid exchange$160–$280Bleeds the moisture out of the system. Usually due every two years, regardless of mileage.
- Pre-purchase inspection$150–$280Full scan, cold-start test, underbody, suspension, compression where relevant, and a photo report you can negotiate with.
Engine & drivability
- Ignition coils and spark plugs$400–$950The usual cure for a P030x misfire code, a shudder under load or a rough idle.
- Oil filter housing gasket$500–$1,100The most common front-of-engine oil leak. Labour-heavy because the intake plenum usually comes off.
- Valve cover gasket and plug tube seals$600–$1,400Stops oil weeping into the spark plug tubes, which is what kills coils over and over.
- Thermostat (electronically controlled)$450–$1,000Fixes a slow warm-up, a cold heater, or a temperature gauge that spikes in traffic.
- Auxiliary coolant pump$350–$900Heater blows cold at idle but warm at speed? This is normally the part.
- Camshaft adjuster / variable timing$900–$2,000per bankFor cam/crank correlation codes on the M272 and M273, once the solenoids are ruled out.
- Timing chain and tensioners$3,500–$7,000Cold-start rattle on a twin-turbo M276/M278. The one job you should never do twice.
Suspension, steering & brakes
- AIRMATIC air spring$900–$2,200per cornerThe bellows perish and leak. Replacing in pairs is usually the better money.
- AIRMATIC compressor and dryer$1,100–$2,400Only ever fitted after the leak that killed the last one is found and fixed.
- Front brake pads and rotors$450–$900OEM or a known-good equivalent, torqued to spec, with the wear sensor replaced where fitted.
- Wheel bearing$450–$900Humming or droning that changes when you steer into and out of a bend.
- Control arm bushings / ball joints$400–$1,100The Alberta pothole tax: clunks over expansion joints and a steering wheel that isn't straight.
Transmission
- 7G-Tronic service (722.9)$500–$950Pan drop, new gasket, new strainer and the correct quantity of the right fluid, set to temperature.
- Conductor plate / solenoid pack$1,200–$2,600The usual cause of harsh 2-3 or 3-4 shifts and a 'Transmission Operating System' warning.
- Direct shaft bushing repair$1,500–$3,200For delayed engagement and flare that a fluid service doesn't cure.
- 722.6 conductor plate$900–$1,800The 5-speed's known weak point, and the reason it starts kicking into second.
Ranges move with engine size, whether the part is OEM or an equivalent, and how much of the car has to come off to reach the fault. If a quote lands well outside one of these, ask what the extra is for — that question alone saves owners more money than anything else on this page.
Parts
Bring your own, or let us source them
Two ways to buy the part, and we'll tell you honestly which suits your car and how long you're keeping it.
Two prices, side by side
OEM and a known-good equivalent, with what each costs and how long each tends to last. If the cheaper one is the right call for how you use the car, we'll say so.
Fitting owner-supplied parts
We'll fit correct parts you've bought, with the labour quoted separately. The honest limit: we can only warranty work on a part we haven't seen, so we'll tell you which items we can't stand behind before you buy.

Still not sure what it is?
Send us the symptom in your own words. If we recognise it, we'll tell you what it usually is and what it usually costs — no charge, no obligation.
